Build a custom daily schedule. Split calories into meals, factor in treats, and get exact portion sizes in grams and cups.
Dogs are creatures of habit. Feeding at the same times daily helps regulate metabolism, reduces begging behavior, and makes house training easier. Puppies need 3-4 small meals because their stomachs are tiny and blood sugar drops fast. Most adult dogs do fine on 2 meals. Seniors often prefer 2-3 smaller meals because digestion slows down.
Treats should never exceed 10% of daily calories. If your dog needs 800 kcal and you give 100 in treats, that's 12.5% โ too much. Either cut treats or adjust the main meals down.
