Calculate your dog's daily calorie needs using the same formula veterinarians use. Adjusts for age, activity, spay/neuter status, and weight goals.
Veterinarians calculate a dog's calorie needs in two steps. First, they find the Resting Energy Requirement (RER) using the formula: RER = 70 ร (body weight in kg)^0.75
Then they multiply RER by a life-stage factor based on age, activity, and body condition. Puppies need 2-3ร RER because they're growing. Spayed/neutered dogs need about 25% less than intact dogs.
We also convert calories into actual grams of dry food (assuming 350 kcal per 100g, a common average). For wet food or different brands, check the label and adjust.
